Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas to all of you! May your holidays be full of joy and beautiful moments surrounded by
the ones you love. I also want to thank each of you:  friends, family, fellow artists and art collectors who generously gave me so much support over the year.

I wish you all many beautiful moments to end 2011!

Exhibition in Australia: Three late guests

"Three late guests" Oil on masonite, 10 x 7-1/2 inches

Sold

Last year, I received a very nice invitation from Jim Thalassoudis, a well known Australian artist who also runs two art blogs: The Painted Sky and In The Real Art World, asking me to be part of a group show " More Real Than Real: Realist Painters from USA and Canada", This exhibition presented in conjunction with Cube Contemporary Art Projects (curated by Jim Thalassoudis) during the Adelaide Festival of Arts, will run from March 1, to March 17, 2012 at Peter Walker Fine Art . In a way, the title of this painting refers directly to the exhibition, therefore, making a post with it only a couple of days before Xmas (Three Kings) may extend the meaning of its hidden story in a pretty poetic way...

Have a beautiful week everyone,
thanks for your visit!

So much time has passed since my last post... too many projects in store and so many unexpected things happening (like the crashing down of my old hard drive), all in the same time. This surely sounds familiar to some of you...
But it's all good. I'm so grateful having that privilege of painting every day, building relationships with heartful people who share this passion, no matter the distance.
I recently completed a couple of paintings such as this commission made for a nice and great art collector from North Carolina.
More to come soon...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Playing with shapes, styles and tonals. To my sensibility, everything has something to reveal.
I can stare at anything for very long periods of time, obsessed by the hidden qualities which could be revealed through some compositions.

A new available small painting added on my second blog, Painted Snapshots here

Thanks for your visit.

August is fading away with its rainy weather. Still working on a commission, the larger format of this season - 30 x 30 inches. A still life that should be completed by the end of September. I also plan to work on smaller pieces that will be set for auctions in the coming weeks, stay tuned.
These 3 studies were painted 4 years ago while I was interested by the idea of presence/absence in human figures. Hopefully I will find the time to paint some portraits and narrative figures in the coming months and continue the exploration.

I added a new painting on my second blog that is available for purchase,
have a look here: Painted Snapshots

have a great week!

On July 17th, we were celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of my parents. Along with the other gifts, my sister and I agreed that it would be great if I could paint something special for the occasion. The whole idea popped out while I was creating the music playlist for that day- I was listening to Moon River (Breakfast at Tiffany's , Andy William's version -the one that was playing in our house in the 60's) and it made me think of a bouquet lit up by a moon glow.

It was a pretty hot day with the unusual high heat temperature of this summer occuring over many parts of the north american continent. Many months of emails later with the generous support from our respective partners in life, we've finally had the joy to slow down and simply appreciate that unique moment, surrounded by the ones we love and some wonderful gardens.

Thanks for your visit,
have a good summer!

Some parts of one's creative process aren't easily translated in words. I rather listen with my eyes than simply look at things, or more precisely "vibrate" through the light spectrum. Beside the ever perfectible aspects of the style I'm developing which in fact will never reach its final state, I secretly aim to portray some harmonics with hidden singularities. Also, sometimes I insert some poetic clues in the title to add some chord to the whole.
In the end, the art piece won't ever be solved , only experienced. In this piece I thought of something fluid and simple composed with detailed elements trying to unveil some kinetic and musical qualities behind the apparent stillness of matter. This may appear conceptual when put in words but I simply follow an intuitive path.

Commission: Cortland apples (on reclaimed wood)

"Cortland apples (on reclaimed wood)" Oil on masonite, 7-1/2 x 10 inches
(Click on image for larger view)
Sold

During last month I've been busy with some new commissioned works. Three more still life to come during the summer.

(To avoid any confusion: " ...(on reclaimed wood)"

is part of the title. I never use reclaimed material as painting boards, only as subjects in the compositions. As specified at the bottom of the image, this oil is actually painted on masonite(new), sealed with shellac and prepared with 5 lightly sanded coats of gesso , a very traditional method).

Thanks for your visit,
have a great weekend!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the auction!
The donation was sent to the Japanese Red Cross Society

Two enlaced branches on the top of a little standing stone, reflecting... This little painting was especially created for the Help Japan auction. I had this idea of a metaphorical and minimalist composition that would express my profound appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their unique culture.
Money raised will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
I'll send documentation to the buyer when the donation is made.
This auction, a wonderful idea of Keiko Tanabe with the generous help
of David Marine is hosted on the Daily Paintworks site.

Days are still on the cool side here, while a revigorating sun announces the passage to the next cycle. With the increasing of movements of all sorts around the world, it's getting hard and deeply challenging trying to follow on a linear mode. Feels like all the cycles are merging into a very confusing pattern.
Aside a state of awareness, a transcendent vision is now required to make sense of the bigger picture. I wish of being able someday to translate that strange harmony perceived behind the chaotic and oftenly clashing appearance of things.

Have a beautiful weekend!
